Job Description:
1. Process Development:
- Design and develop SMT processes for the efficient assembly of electronic components onto PCBs.
- Develop requirement specifications, system concepts, detail drawings, and BOM’s.
- Create layouts for complex assemblies and detailed parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
- Develop and implement changes to product design and/or the manufacturing process to achieve efficiency, quality, and/or cost improvements.
2. Process Optimization:
- Continuously analyze and improve SMT production processes to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize defects.
- Collaborate with production teams to trouble-shoot problems, manage upgrades, set-ups, develop methods development and process parameters.
- Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEA).
- Identify the root cause for technical issues and implement process improvements.
3. Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement quality control procedures specific to SMT processes to ensure the production of high-quality electronic assemblies.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues in production processes to maintain high standards.
4. Training and Documentation:
- Provide training to production personnel on SMT processes, equipment operation, and best practices to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process instruction, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and work instruction for SMT operations.
5. Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in SMT processes.
- Implement initiatives to optimize material utilization, minimize waste, and reduce production costs.
6. Any other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the management.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in SMT process development and optimization within the electronics manufacturing industry, preferably 3 years or above of experience in SMT.
- Strong knowledge of SMT equipment, technology and processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software for designing and detailing parts and assemblies.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex information clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Hands-on role requiring regular interaction with the production floor and engineering teams.
- Excellent conceptual, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia in both verbal and written communication.
