Job Description:
Technical Manager is responsible for the technical aspects of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. They lead technical teams, provide guidance on process improvement, oversee quality assurance, manage new product introductions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
1. Technical Services:
Oversee technical processes related to product management, process optimization, equipment maintenance, and test development services.
Evaluate and implement new technologies and processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure technical requirements are met and address any technical issues that arise.
Provide technical leadership and support to internal teams and customers, resolving complex technical issues and driving innovation.
2. Product Technical Development and Implementation:
Ensure the development of tests and required equipment to meet customer requirements and internal policies and procedures.
Identifying opportunities for process improvement and optimization to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase quality in compliance with quality procedures, customer requirements, and legal standards.
Develops and ensure the plans for regular maintenance of all equipment (as per suppliers' and local requirements) are implemented to minimize equipment idle time and component losses.
Manage customer communication and evaluate change orders and new requests to ensure technical changes are implemented effectively.
3. Process Efficiency:
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for performance and overall efficiency, conducting regular reviews and analyses to identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop and execute plans for cost-effective equipment replacements and investments to improve efficiency, reduce downtime and support business growth objectives.
Lead the development of strategies for technological development to drive revenue growth, operational excellence, and competitive advantage.
Ensure effective implementation of efficiency improvement programs and plans, optimizing processes and allocating resources effectively.
4. Budget and Resource Management:
Prepare departmental budgets in alignment with organizational goals and recommend approval by the general manager.
Ensure that departmental activities are in line with the budget, optimizing resource allocation and maximizing cost-effectiveness.
Manage investment planning and implementation, including equipment replacement, technology upgrades, and skill development initiatives.
5. Performance Management:
Establish departmental KPIs aligned with organizational objectives and develop a reporting framework to measure performance.
Plan departmental resources, identify training needs, and ensure timely implementation of training plans to enhance employee skills and performance.
Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively, including production, supply chain and quality, to ensure alignment of production activities with overall business objectives.
Provide regular updates on supply chain performance and initiatives, focusing on supply chain readiness and product availability.
7. Others
Business Intelligence: Set up expectations and allocate resources to analyze and keep updated on opportunities and trends, leveraging business intelligence to drive strategic decision-making.
Non-conformity Management: Establish and manage a framework for addressing non-conformities related to product specifications, component specifications, procedure requirements, and technical specifications.
Improvement and Maintenance of Equipment: Develop and prioritize frameworks for cost-effective regular maintenance and repair of equipment, minimizing downtime and component losses. Support equipment improvement initiatives and propose new technologies and methods to optimize equipment utilization and performance.
Requirements:
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in related field.
Minimum of 10 years in Engineering and principles.
Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex information clearly.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Good negotiation skills, particularly with forwarders, to ensure optimal transportation charges and Supplier management.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, coordinate and support a team.
Possess advanced computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills.
Excellent command in Bahasa Malaysia and English language, both in written and spoken.
